The 18th winner of the St Leger, held on Tuesday 24th September 1793 over the 2 miles of Town Moor, was Ninety-Three, a bay colt by Florizel out of Nosegay, owned by Mr John Clifton. A field of 8 runners contested the race, although there were 16 subscriptions of 25 guineas each, which was worth 400 Guineas. (Equivalent to £57,200 in 2017)
